  History.  
  GM Construction, Inc. was incorporated in Indianapolis, Indiana in 1989. Founder Charles Garcia changed the company’s name to Garcia Construction Group in February 2007. Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, Charles relocated to Indiana and found a strong economy and promising opportunities. He also found a safe and progressive community in which to raise his family.  
  Historical Highlights.  
 
1989 Starting with a pickup truck and a $5,000 loan, Charlie Garcia operates his business out of his family room. The company’s first project is a Lazarus Department Store at Lafayette Square Mall, Indianapolis, Indiana.
   
1999 GM Construction, Inc. is selected from a group of 23 contractors to perform facility maintenance for Procter & Gamble in Cincinnati, Ohio and opens an office one year later.
   
1993 Selected for the $650 million United Airlines MOC II project as Associate Construction Managers.
   
1997 Opens an office in Burlingame, California after being awarded a third consecutive project from Macy’s Department Stores – West.
   
1998 Opens an office in Atlanta, Georgia to perform project work for Rich’s Department Stores.
   
1998 Awarded a $125 million State of Indiana Correctional Facility project in partnership with Bovis Construction at New Castle, Indiana.
   
1998 Awarded a $75 million State of Indiana Museum project in partnership with Paul Cripe & Associates.
   
1998 Awarded a $10 million Lazarus Department Store remodel project at Castleton Square Mall, Indianapolis, Indiana.
   
1999 Purchases a new corporate office location comprising of a 7,228 sq. ft. office and 8,456 sq. ft. warehouse in Indianapolis, Indiana.
   
2000 Charles J. Garcia acquires 100% of the company.
   
2002 Daniel L. Vela acquires 25% of GM Construction, Inc.
   
2004 Awarded an $82 million construction project in partnership with a Prime contracting company.
   
2004 GM Construction is certified as ISO 9001:2000 Contractor.
   
2007 In February, GM Construction, Inc. name is changed to Garcia Construction Group, Inc.
